Student Services

The University of Queensland’s Student Services provide a wide range of services to RHD candidates. These include free counsellingtraining courses for academic and personal development, assistance in finding accommodation and support for international students. Courses in English for Academic Communication will help you to improve your English in the academic environment, and run throughout the year.

 

SMI Candidate Advisory Committee

A candidate representing each centre forms the SMI Candidate Advisory Committee (CAC). This committee meets on a monthly basis with the director of SMI and staff from the postgraduate office. The committee arranges social and sporting events, as well as professional development opportunities. If you have suggestions and ideas to improve the student experience, or concerns which you would like raised, contact your centre's committee member. The members are:

Student Help on Campus (SHOC)

Student Help on Campus provides candidates with free legal, education, welfare, tax, counselling and employment services. The legal service is able to assist you to complete your Intellectual Property agreement.

 

Clubs and Societies

The UQ Student Union provides access to many clubs and societies for candidates. The UQ Association of Postgraduate Students represents postgraduate students at a University level, as well as providing advice and advocacy for postgraduates.

 

Graduate School Support Services

The UQ Graduate School offers many support services to Postgraduate candidates, ranging from desk space and a thesis writing space to support for indigenous students.
