Michelle is the Administration Officer for the Sustainable Minerals Institutes (SMI) People Centres, which includes both the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining (CSRM) and the Minerals Industry Safety and Health Centre (MISHC). Michelle provides high-level support to both Centres, and the SMI more broadly.

Michelle joined the SMI in 2014 as CSRM’s Administration Officer. Since then she has proven to be a valuable asset in administration, communication and event co-ordination.

Michelle has responsibility for ensuring that both the CSRM and MISHC’s websites remain current and of a high standard. Michelle was also asked to be member of the SMI's website redevelopment project, in which she helped design and create SMI's staff and student intranet. In 2016, she won a scholarship through the University of Queensland's Professionals Network and is completing a Drupal 7 website building course. She has also worked for the SMI’s Advancement and Communications Managers as a Project Assistant.

Michelle also provides secretariat support to the Rio Tinto - CSRM Partnership Steering Committee.

Previous to her positions at the University of Queensland, Michelle worked as an Office Manager for a small company SSE Specialised Stage Engineering Pty Ltd. She has extensive experience in administration, reception and customer service and has completed several accounting courses (MYOB, XERO).

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies and English from the University of Queensland and a Graduate Diploma in Film and Television Studies from the Queensland University of Technology.
