Dr Hafiz Ilyas holds a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF), Pakistan.

Hafiz undertook post-graduate studies under the Department of Structures & Environmental Engineering at UAF, and completed his PhD from Lincoln University New Zealand, in the area of Environmental Management and Sustainable Development. His research work was focused on energy consumption and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Assessment of diverse land-use systems.

Hafiz gained multi-disciplinary industry experience from New Zealand, including working as an Environmental Researcher - Climate for MyImprint Ltd and supporting multiple sectors organisations, businesses, farms and manufacturing facilities in their operational and project level greenhouse gas emissions measurement, as well as identifing emissions reduction options or mitigations strategies for them.

As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at JKMRC, Hafiz will engage in research around greenhouse gas emission monitoring and quantification, and the evaluation of possible mitigation options. Hafiz is eager to further contribute to the field of GHG emission management in order to assist the mining sector in achieving its sustainability targets.
