Nigel Wight is a graduate in Economics from QUT, and a graduate of the Master of Development Studies from University of Melbourne. He has lived and worked in Argentina and Chile for over seven years, working in property development and monitoring and evaluation of social programs. His PhD project is titled The Complexity of Operationalising Free, Prior and Informed Consent, and looks at the Pascua Lama mine in the Huasco Valley, Chile, and the mobilisation of FPIC in strategies of engagement between Barrick Gold and the Diaguita indigenous communities there.
