Catherine is based in Perth, Western Australia and is Manager, Social Responsibility with SMI’s technology transfer company, JKTech. Prior to joining JKTech in January 2012, she spent six years as a Senior Research Fellow with CSRM where she led multi-disciplinary research teams on a variety of projects addressing topics of social impact assessments, transition and closure planning for remote mining communities, monitoring and evaluation frameworks for sustainability, governance in mining intensive regions, Aboriginal employment and economic development, and workforce issues and gender diversity. 

During her time with CSRM, Catherine held positions on two Australian Research Council Linkage Grants – Local government, mining companies and resource development in regional Australia, and Women in Mining: a longitudinal study. She led the development and was the lead investigator for the Women in Mining study prior to her departure from CSRM.

Catherine brings over 15 years’ experience of the minerals and oil and gas sectors to her work as a consultant and researcher.  Prior to her academic and consulting career, she held a variety of operational and fly-in-fly-out roles in the resources sector. She has taught at professional development and post-graduate university level courses in community relations, social impact assessment, and research methodologies. Catherine is a board member of a not-for-profit working in the field of mental health recovery in Western Australia.
