Grace has a background in  geography, landscape science and range management. She has worked on human migration, land cover change and natural resource contestations, water, energy and sustainability, urbanisation and food systems. She has experience from working in a range of research, academic and service delivery roles, both in Australia and in sub-Saharan Africa. Grace was a research scientist in Kenya for many years at the then Kenya Agricultural Research Institute, worked as a research scientist in the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Mines, and various roles in the University of Queensland.

Grace is currently pursuing livelihoods and food security research (including under mining-induced displacement and resettlement),  and looking to apply her skills and experience in society and resources interactions, spatial science and analytics to this domain, as well as continued engagement in urban food systems issues.
