Dr David Way is a globally renowned metallurgist and over 21 years of operational experience, including with Xstrata/Mount Isa Mines Ltd.  His major areas of personal expertise include copper/gold/molybdenum flotation, lead-zinc-silver flotation, diamond beneficiation, and gold flotation, CIL and heap leach.

Dr Way was appointed CEO of JKTech in 2016 after managing the Consulting team, which includes world class experts in the areas of geology, geometallurgy, mining and processing since 2011. During this time, David oversaw large scale and complex optimisation projects at mine sites around the world including those owned by Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and Debswana.  He is also an adjunct professor with the Sustainable Minerals Institute at The University of Queensland.

David commenced employment with Mount Isa Mines in 1996 in operational, research and development roles across copper and lead/zinc businesses.  After Xstrata’s take-over of Mount Isa Mines, he was appointed Group Metallurgist for Xstrata Copper and then moved into an acquisitions role for the company while maintaining technical oversight of Xstrata Coppers Joint Venture operations – Collahuasi and Mineria Alumbrera.  He joined Xstrata Copper’s Global Development Group as Principal Metallurgist in 2006. Dr Way was heavily involved in technical studies for greenfield development at six major global copper projects, where he became one of the inventors of the Toowong arsenic leach process.
