Andrew Keith has worked for Aurecon (and its predecessor companies) as a consulting engineer for almost 30 years. Over that time he has been a consultant for mining projects primarily around infrastructure and ore chain logistics. Andrew is passionate about holistic sustainability in the mining industry. Since being introduced to the SUSOP mining sustainability framework he has sought to promote its utilisation by mining companies large and small. He has written a number of conference papers around use of SUSOP and Creating Shared Value in the mining industry in collaboration with others. 

Andrew is currently completing his thesis for a Masters of Philosophy in Sustainable Mineral Resource Development through the University of Cape Town, with co-supervisor Dr Glen Corder from SMI. His thesis uses the Five Capitals framework to make a Case Study assessment of the potential for coal from the proposed Carmichael Coal Mine in Queensland will significantly reduce energy poverty in India.
