Jen Gunter is a minerals professional with a broad experience base specialising in the integration of all available datasets to understand mineralising processes and target blind or under-cover mineralisation.

Jen has over 20 years’ experience working in mineral exploration and development, complemented by a BSc (Hons) in Geology, and a Master of Environmental Engineering Management. Jen commenced her career as a geologist with MIM Exploration in 1997, and for a period of 5 years held various exploration related roles with MIM both in Australia and internationally. Subsequent to that, she held senior roles with Xstrata, Pan Australian Resources, Placer Dome, the Department of Education and Training QLD, and Orbis Gold, as well as working on a variety of consulting projects. These roles have included working in multiple settings and commodities in Australia including the Eastern and Western Succession of Mt Isa, the Olary district, the Yilgarn, the Charters Towers Province, the Tanami, and the Arunta, as well as internationally in Burkina Faso, Laos, Central Asia, the Philippines, and Vanuatu.

Jen’s previous experience has also spanned diverse responsibilities such as the management of large exploration and mine feasibility programs, corporate sustainability management, the creation of mine closure plans, and management of billion-dollar public infrastructure projects.

In the last five years, Jen’s focus has turned to technical consulting to industry, where she has worked on a variety of geological projects. Examples of geological projects Jen has completed include:

  • Development of new minerals systems and regional 3D models, and exploration targets for the under-cover Osborne and Kulthor Deposits and surrounding geology (Chinova Resources) – leading to discovery of additional mineralisation near the Osborne Processing Complex of:
    • Kulthor Near Surface – combined resources (Measured, Indicated and Inferred) of 6.49 Mt @ 0.78% Cu and 0.85 g/t Au, processing optimisation and internal pre-feasibility in progress
    • Osborne North – over 1Mt of >0.5% eCu, selected zones mined.
  • Regional assessment of the metallogenic potential of Central Asia for high-grade gold deposits, and subsequent integration of available open-source data for the Tien Shan Province, including a structural analysis and assessment of high-potential targets.

Jen is a member of the AusIMM, EGRU, and has also worked collaboratively with the ANU during previous consulting projects.

Jen has strong mining industry and government experience, with good connections in a range of disciplinary areas, supporting her multi-disciplinary approach to projects.
