Douglas Mazzinghy is a Professor at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) at the Department of Mining Engineering, Minas Gerais, Brazil. His main field of research is within geometallurgy and tailings management.

Douglas has 11 years of experience in process engineering where he participated in the project design of different plants in Brazil. He has three years as a Professor at UFMG when he became involved in mining tailings research.

Douglas will be at Sustainable Minerals Institute as a Visiting academic in the period from December 2019 to May 2020. The research carried out in this period will be related to the sustainable use of mining tailings and circular economy. Douglas is interested in connecting with researchers and students working on projects related to this topic.
