Batbayar Batkhuu is an MPhil research student at The University of Queensland’s WH Bryan Mining  Geology Research Centre (BRC).

Batbayar is researching the evaluation of undercutting methodologies in deep cave mines with his supervisor Professor Andre Van As. 

Batbayar is experienced in the Geotechnical Engineering of Underground Mines and has worked at “Oyu Tolgoi” Block Caving since 2016, focusing on rock mass characterisation, ground support, and geotechnical monitoring.  

Batbayar holds both a Bachelor and Master of Sciences in Engineering Geology from the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST). He has been granted the “Oyu Tolgoi International Scholarship” and joined the MPhil program at BRC. He is a member of ISRM.
