SMI operates within the governance structures of The University of Queensland. The Institute engages broadly with industry, not-for-profit organisations, and state and federal governments through its research and education initiatives. 

SMI Board

The role of the SMI Advisory Board is to provide advice and guidance to the Director and University on the strategic direction of SMI. It meets quarterly.
