JKMRC P9 Leadership

20 May 2011

The Director of the JKMRC Geoff Gault, has announced that Craig Brown will be joining the JKMRC in a project management capacity. Many of you will know Craig from his role with JKTech in 2004/05 when he was Operations Manager as well as from other industry connections.

Craig brings extensive mineral processing expertise from various roles at an operations level (including as a Mine Manager) together with roles in both large engineering and general consulting companies. He also has had experience in technology transfer and has been an industry sponsor representative at AMIRA P9 meetings. These skills match the requirements of the Project Leader role for the new AMIRA P9P Project which is being developed and prepared to start in 2012, subject to sponsor support.

His skills in site engagement and technology transfer will be important in addressing sponsors expressed concerns in this area. This role also requires overall leadership skills and project management which Craig has clearly demonstrated in his career to date.Craig will participate in the forthcoming P9 sponsor review meeting in Brisbane. This will be an opportunity for Craig to introduce himself to sponsors and the P9O project.

During the P9 meetings in South Africa in November last year, Geoff Gault stated the intention to be in a position to announce the new leader for the next term of P9 by the June meeting this year. With the help of the JKMRC management team and AMIRA, this target date has been met.As you are aware, Emmy Manlapig has been the P9 Project Leader for the past 8 years and will take on a strategic leadership role at the JKMRC in 2012 in his capacity as Deputy Director. Emmy has made a considerable contribution to the technical achievements and management of P9O.
