R U OK day – Start a meaningful conversation
R U OK? Day is a national day of action held on Thursday 13 September 2018 dedicated to reminding people to ask family, friends and colleagues the question, "R U OK?", in a meaningful way, because connecting regularly and meaningfully is one thing everyone can do to make a difference to anyone who might be struggling.
There are a number of R U OK day events coming up which you are encouraged to attend:

10.00am - 11.30 am Presentation by Joe Williams
Venue Riverview Room, Emmanuel College, Sir William MacGregor Drive, University of QLD, St Lucia
The University of Queensland is proud to present a conversation with Mr Joe Williams. Joe is a Wiradjuri, 1st Nations Aboriginal man who played in the National Rugby League for South Sydney Rabbitohs, Penrith Panthers and Canterbury Bulldogs before switching to professional Boxing in 2009.
Although forging a successful professional sporting career, Joe has battled the majority of his life with Bipolar Disorder. In 2014 Joe created The Enemy Within, a Suicide Prevention and Wellness education charity.
You are invited to come down to listen to Joe's message of Mental Health Recovery and Wellness on this R U Ok? day.

In support of R U OK? Day, we ask that everyone wear something yellow on Thursday 13 September and head on down to the Grassy Knoll at Campbell Place to have a cuppa and a conversation… it could change the life of someone you know.
Come have a coffee, or just chill out and play some games while you chat with friends or make new ones in the spirit of active conversations. Never underestimate the power of asking ‘R U OK?’

Come and join us with a plate of goodies for afternoon tea and some great conversations on 13 September 2018 at 2:30pm in the Level 4 Kitchen area. You can also show your support by wearing yellow on the day.
