Speaker:  Ian Neill, Executive Director, Australian Coal Research Limited

Abstract:  This seminar will provide a better understanding of ACARP funding, a highly successful mining research program that has been running in Australia since its establishment in 1992.

Bio:  Ian Neill is a mining executive with 34 years professional mining industry experience, most recently as General Manager with Wesfarmers Resources. He has diverse experience founded on tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering and coupled with 18 years operations experience in technical and mine management roles, primarily in open cut coal mining in QLD and NSW, including statutory Mine Manager responsibilities.

Ian’s extensive and unique Senior / Executive Management experience has been gained with mine owners (Wesfarmers Resources, Macarthur Coal, BHP Billiton Mount Arthur Coal [Bayswater] and Coal & Allied Mount Thorley Mine), major mining contract services providers (Thiess and Roche Mining [now Downer Edi]), and major explosives suppliers.

Ian is a Director on industry bodies including Australian Coal Research Limited (ACRL), which manages ACARP, the Australian black coal industry Research & Development program including nearly 2 years as ACRL Board Chair; ACA Low Emission Technology; Minerals Council of Australia Coal Forum (and the former Australian Coal Association); Queensland Resources Council and the Queensland Resources Ministerial Roundtable.
