Lunar Transportation and Resources Exploration
Speaker: Dr Carlos Espejel, ISRU Lead, ispace Europe
Abstract: Space agencies and private sectors are presently dedicating substantial resources and time to establish self-sustaining settlements on the Moon, intended to rely on lunar resources. Prior to these activities, humanity had the responsibility and opportunity to transfer its core values and best practices proactively and consciously, rather than reactively. Migrating to a new celestial body entails a shared responsibility for humanity to progress thoughtfully.
Bio: Carlos Espejel is a pioneering leader in space resource utilisation, with a decade-long mining background. As Space Resources Utilisation (SRU) Lead at ispace, he guides the ISRU Working Group, driving tech development, partnerships, and commercial projects. Holding degrees from prestigious institutions like The University of Queensland and UNSW, including a PhD and Postdoc in ISRU, he's a PROSPECT science team lead.
