The Watershed tungsten deposit, NE Queensland: A Permian shear-vein mineralising upgrade after an early Carboniferous magmatic-hydrothermal mineralisation event

Abstract:  Analysing rock and mineral characteristics using different analytical techniques is essential for understanding the heterogeneity of ore deposits and the mineralisation processes. This presentation demonstrates how rock and mineral chemistry, together with fluid inclusion studies, can effectively differentiate and characterise distinct stages of tungsten mineralisation. This approach sheds light on the processes involved and identify the main mineralisation event of Watershed tungsten deposit – NE Queensland.

Bio:  Jaime Poblete is a geologist with 16 years of industry and research experience. He received his BSc degree from the University of Chile in 2008 and his MSc degree from The University of British Columbia in 2011. Jaime was awarded his PhD in 2019 from James Cook University, where he investigated the geological characteristics of the Watershed tungsten deposit in NE Queensland. Jaime also has eight years of industry experience with junior and mid-tier companies, where he has worked mostly in green fields and brownfields exploration and project generation in Canada, Mexico and Australia, for precious and base metals.
