Abstract:  You cannot practice mineral processing without knowing and delving into the nature of minerals.

Bio:  Dean David has 43 years’ experience in mineral processing covering flowsheet development, operations, management and consulting. His expertise covers most aspects of mineral processing technology. Dean graduated in 1981 from SAIT (Adelaide) with a B App Sc Metallurgy and commenced with CRA (later Rio Tinto) at Broken Hill, Melbourne (Wimmera Industrial Minerals) and then Kununurra (Argyle Diamonds). Dean was at JKTech for 7 years and had almost 4 years as Manager JKTech. He moved on to GRD Minproc in Perth and, although he has stayed with the Minproc team, it has changed name many times and is now part of the global engineering company, Wood. Dean’s expertise includes comminution, classification, geometallurgy, scrubbing, direct ship iron ore, iron ore concentrate circuits (magnetite and magnetite plus hematite), laterite beneficiation, mine to mill optimisation, dense media separation, mineral sands processing, flotation, plant modelling (especially the use of JKSimMet), detailed process review, ore characterisation interpretation, sampling, plant surveys, testing program design and management of technical teams.

Welcome to the 2024 Series of the JKMRC Friday Seminars.  The list of presentations will aim to cover a range of topics related to the minerals sector from decision making in exploration, new mineral processing technologies, social licence to operate and mine closure.
