Speaker: Diana Drinkwater

Abstract: It is concerning that specialist education in mineral concentration and metal extraction is becoming harder to access, despite the fact these areas represent the most significant opportunities in the mining value chain for value gain or loss.

Bio: Diana Drinkwater has worked in a variety of mining industry roles during her 40+ year career, including mineral processing operations, engineering, research and consulting. Her principal interest is engineering education and technology transfer, and she draws on her practical experience to develop and deliver targeted professional formation programs for early-career professionals. Diana has delivered on-the-job and University-based education programs in Australia, Africa, the Americas and Europe. She chaired the AusIMM Metallurgical Society from 2012 to 2015, undertook 2 terms as an AusIMM director, and is a member of the International Mineral Processing Council (IMPC) where she coordinates the Education Commission.

Welcome to the 2024 Series of the JKMRC Friday Seminars.  The list of presentations will aim to cover a range of topics related to the minerals sector from decision making in exploration, new mineral processing technologies, social licence to operate and mine closure.
