Speaker: John Atherton

Abstract: The increasing participation of variable renewable energy in the grid presents unique challenges for dispatchable technologies in order to meet demand. Renewable Compensation in 2024 presents a useful case study to investigate both impacts of solar seasonality, as well as a recently concluded wind drought in the southern states.

Bio: Dr John Atherton is an engineer from The University of Cambridge, and senior consultant in energy market analytics at the BESS owner operator company of Akaysha Energy. His background in renewable energy includes work from Aurecon, UQ, and the CSIRO.
