REECOVERY: Circular economy to produce critical raw materials from water in the mining industry
Speaker: Dr Edxon Licon
Abstract: REECOVERY will develop and validate a resource recovery system to obtain critical raw materials from acidic contact water from old mining environmental liabilities or mining activity processes. It will allow us to integrate such secondary sources into a more stable supply chain by deploying technologies required to meet climate neutrality goals.
Bio: Dr Edxon Licon, a senior project manager at CETAQUA, leads innovative R&D&I projects in decarbonisation, biorefinery, and resource recovery. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, a Master's in Sustainable Processes, and a Ph.D. cum laude in Chemical Process Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. His expertise is related to advancing environmentally conscious practices and addressing key challenges in water management and resource utilisation. Edxon has collaborated in the development of innovative techniques applied to bioprocesses, membrane science and micro/nanofluidics.
