Speaker: Dr Renjie Zhou

Abstract: This seminar will provide an overview on the diverse geochronology toolkit in documenting the development of mineral systems with case studies in Queensland. Examples will include base metal, copper-gold, and tin-tungsten systems. The seminar will highlight opportunities and challenges in some of these methods and showcase results and capacities from Queensland-based geo-analytical platforms.

Bio: Renjie Zhou holds a PhD from University of Toronto and has worked at The University of Queensland since 2016 where he teaches fundamental and disciplinary courses in the Earth Science program. He leads a research team of passionate members working on a wide range of topics centred around geochronology with study sites in the Andes, Himalaya, New Zealand, New Caledonia, as well as Australia. Renjie is awarded an Advance Queensland Industry Research Fellowship to focus on developing novel methods to understanding mineral systems development and regional mineralisation potentials.
