Unlocking the potential of AI in resource assessment
Speaker: Dr Nurassyl Battalgazy, Geoscience Data Analyst, IMDEX
Abstract: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming industries across the globe and resource estimation is no exception. This seminar will explore how AI can be applied in grade control resource estimation and brownfield exploration. The focus will be about the challenges and opportunities AI presents in these areas and increase understanding of the practical and innovative uses of AI within these critical areas of mining.
Bio: Nurassyl Battalgazy recently completed his PhD at the Sustainable Minerals Institute, The University of Queensland, specialising in applying machine learning and deep learning in resource estimation. He is currently a Geoscience Data Analyst at IMDEX, working on the BlastDog project. With expertise in resource estimation, structural mapping, and spatial modelling, Nurassyl has contributed to academic research and participated in industry challenges, including the Future Explorers Challenge, where he applied a deep learning framework for mineral targeting. He has published in leading journals and presented at international conferences. His primary area of interest is AI applications.
