Speaker: Dr Neal Harries, Director - Mine Monitoring, Hexagon Geosystems.
Abstract: This presentation will cover three aspects: 1) Who is Hexagon and what is their role in mining; 2) Hexagon mine monitoring and how they change how mining operations work; 3) Thoughts on technology direction in mining, and some consideration for current HDR students in developing rewarding careers.
Bio: As a Director of Hexagon Mine Monitoring, Neal manages sales, service and support of the mine monitoring business in the Asia Pacific region. At Hexagon from 2011, Neal has undertaken numerous senior management roles, including leading the Product Management teams, New Business (Technology Partners and Autonomous Mining Strategy) and management of the American Mining Business. Neal has worked in Mining for 25 years, as a consultant geotechnical engineer, as well as roles in research organisations. He has a BSc (Hons) in Geology from Cardiff University of Wales and a PhD in Mining Engineering from UQ with a focus on Rock Mechanics.
