Identifying, analysing and understanding social risks related to lithium extraction in the Lithium Triangle.

This project intends to propose alternatives to achieve an improved ESG performance and sustainability of the lithium extraction industry in Chile, contributing to the responsible lithium supply for decarbonisation. 

Through a comprehensive understanding of the specific ESG context and the risks associated with the lithium extraction in Chile using system thinking approaches at multiple temporal and spatial scales, the project aims to identify current limitations and improvement opportunities in the lithium-related regulation and ESG instruments. A case study will be analysed to understand how the improvement opportunities identified previously would materialise in the company’s management plans and ESG performance.
