Dr Jacek Kolacz

Abstract

Ore sorting becomes an important process for most of mines. The presentation will cover: main benefits of ore pre-concentration, limitations of the sorting process, latest developments in sensor technologies, R&D and AI application, scale-up aspects from the lab results to industrial applications, sorting process stability in 24/7 operation mode, service and maintenance aspects.    

Bio

Jacek Kolacz obtained his MSc Degree in 1989 at The Mining University in Krakow in Poland. In 1995 he received his PhD degree at The Norwegian Institute of Technology in Norway. From 1994 to 2003 Jacek worked at SINTEF Research Organisation in Norway as the senior scientist. In 2003 he founded Comex Group companies in Norway and Poland, where he is currently working as the President. Comex provides sophisticated equipment and technological solutions in mining industry and material technology area. Jacek is an author of over 150 papers published world-wide, international patents and many scientific reports mainly on sensor-based sorting.

Welcome to the 2025 Series of the JKMRC Friday Seminars.  The list of presentations will aim to cover a range of topics related to the minerals sector from decision making in exploration, new mineral processing technologies, social licence to operate and mine closure.
