June 5 2026 is World Environment Day and to celebrate we have a special conversation between the director of The University of Queensland’s Sustainable Minerals Institute and the director of SMI's Centre for Environmental Responsibility in Mining (CERM).
"Climate change is something that is coming at us and we're not going to be able to get out of its way. It's a really important necessity to try to come up with ways to mitigate those effects because we really depend on mining for so many different things. What we're going to show in the next half an hour is why we both think it's so important," SMI director Professor Valenta said, in conversation with CERM director Doug Aitken.
