With a background in nano-biotechnology research, small business management and technology commercialisation, Bronwyn’s efforts are now focussed on enabling leading scientists create meaningful change in the global mining industry. Joining the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining (CSRM) team at the Sustainable Minerals Institute, her experience in business and project management is being applied to enable world-class, collaborative research into the social and political challenges of the resources sector.
Bronwyn holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry from The University of Queensland, a Diploma in Project Management from the Australian Institute of Management and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
She spent over a decade in an academic research role at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology at UQ and published 39 research articles in fields including nanotechnology, biophysics and medical diagnostics. Concurrently, she gained technology transfer, project management and intellectual property management experience in one of UQ’s first start-up companies, Nanomics BioSystems Pty Ltd, where she held the positions of Project Manager, Project Director and later, General Manager.
Just prior to joining CSRM, Bronwyn enjoyed two years with UniQuest Pty Limited, UQ’s main research commercialisation company. At UniQuest, she worked in partnership with Queensland Brain Institute researchers to identify, package, protect and commercialise early stage technologies and therapies.
