Dr Gerardo Castillo

Dr Gerardo Castillo holds a PhD from the Center for Social Responsibility in Mining at The University of Queensland and a BA in anthropology with Masters’ Degrees in International Development from the University of Bath and in Geography from the University of Oklahoma.

Gerardo is a senior consultant on social development and extractive industries, with over 15 years’ experience and work with peasant and indigenous populations, state intitutions, civil society, and the private sector, in Peru and the Americas.

Dr Castillo has tought at the Department of Social Sciences, the School of Management, and on the Diploma in Extractive Industries: Vigilance and Sustainable Development at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) and has provide lectures in diferent academic institutions in Europe and USA. Dr. Castillo is Assistant professor in Anthropology at the Department of Social Sciences at the PUCP. Currently, he is coordinator of the Research Group Anthropology of the City at the PUCP.
