Dr Ünzile Yenial Arslan graduated with a Bachelor of Mining Engineer and completed a Master in Mineral Processing Engineering, both in Turkey.
Ünzile completed her PhD in 2018 at the Istanbul Technical University on development of mineral based adsorbents from waste materials for wastewater treatment. She has worked as a research assistant at the Istanbul Technical University (2010-2018) working on various industry and research projects.
Ünzile received a mansion award from PAGEV (Turkish Plastic Industry Association) with her bachelor thesis about separation of PET and PVC by column flotation. She received a research grant from TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) and worked as PhD Scholar at Industrial Chemical Engineering Department, Sapienza University of Roma, Italy (2015-2017). After completing her PhD, Ünzile worked as senior metallurgist and continuous improvement superintendent in the copper mining company.
Currently, Ünzile's research work at the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre (JKMRC) is on overcoming pyrite challenges in Queensland's ore reserves and mine tailings.
