Biography

Sheyla Palomino Ore is an APEC Sanitary Engineer who graduated from the National University of Engineering in Peru. She also holds a Master's degree in Geosciences from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the United States, where she was a Fulbright scholar. With over a decade of experience, she has contributed significantly to both public and private sectors, notably at INGEMMET ((Peru's Geological, Mining, and Metallurgical Institute) and Amphos21 Consulting Peru, specializing in environmental geochemistry and hydrochemistry. Her work has primarily focused on environmental geochemistry and hydrochemistry, with a special emphasis on predictive modeling of water quality using softwares such as PhreeqC and Phast.
In academia, Sheyla has shared her knowledge as a lecturer at UTEC, focusing on Environmental Geochemistry. Currently she is an associate researcher at The Water Research and Technology Center (CITA) at UTEC. Outside academia, Sheyla plays an active role in the Geological Society of Peru, managing the Environmental Hydrogeochemistry section, and engages with international organizations like GSA, SME, and IAG, contributing to global advancements in geoscience.

Industry

Sheyla worked as a geoscientist consultant for various mining companies in Peru as part of the Amphos 21 team. Her role involved providing support in environmental geochemistry projects for baseline studies, mining operations, and closure processes.

Collaborations

Sheyla worked as a part-time professor at the University of Engineering and Technology (UTEC) in Peru from 2020 to 2022. Currently, she is an associate researcher at The Water Research and Technology Center (CITA) at UTEC. Additionally, Sheyla serves as the coordinator of the Environmental Hydrogeochemistry Section at the Geological Society of Peru.
