Dr Hyoungmook (Joseph) Pak is an environmental researcher specialising in air quality monitoring, aerosol characterisation, and air flow modelling. His international research experience includes computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, bioinformatics, real-time air sampling, and atmospheric chemistry. His work has identified airborne antibiotic-resistant bacteria in dairy facilities and hundreds of hazardous compounds, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and secondary organic aerosols (SOAs), in the urban atmosphere.
Joseph has published extensively, contributed mitigation strategies to government agencies, and supervised both undergraduate and graduate students. He brings multidisciplinary expertise to analyse coal dust samples, assess their characteristics, and improve the respiratory health and working conditions in the mining industry.
