Dr Byambajav Dalaibuyan is a Research Manager within the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining, Sustainable Minerals Institute of UQ. Byambajav has over ten years’ experience in applied social research and has experience with both Australian and international mining sectors, particularly in areas of social performance, social and human rights impact assessment, and Local Level Agreements. 

Byambajav first worked for CSRM between 2013-2016 as Postdoctoral Research Fellow, focusing on studying the agreement-making process of a long-term agreement between Oyu Tolgoi and its surrounding communities in Mongolia. He then went on to work as a consultant for international organizations and mining companies in Australia and Mongolia and worked as a Research Fellow at Tohoku University in Japan in 2017-2019. One of the projects he worked in Japan was a study on cultural restoration and repurposing of closed and abandoned mine sites in Japan. In 2023 Byambajav returned to CSRM as Research Manager.
