Humaira completed her Masters in Economics at Central European University, Hungary and has an undergraduate degree in Economics from BRAC University, Bangladesh.

Humaira’s PhD aims to identify the Socio-Economic Impacts of the Coal Seam Gas Industry on Female-directed/led Enterprises in the Western Downs Region of Queensland, Australia. She is being supervised by Assoc Professor Will Rifkin.

Prior to commencing her PhD, Humaira was working in Bangladesh with The Fred Hollows Foundation and Swisscontact, focusing on health and employment issues in rural communities.  She has expertise in project management, budget analysis, grant management and programme development.  She has worked with the TATA Consultancy Services in Hungary to map the IT labour market in the Eastern European Region.
