Frans Knox

Frans Knox is the Head of Production Integration for BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA). Frans has over 20 years’ experience in the mining industry where he has worked as General Manager of a number of mines across South Africa and Australia. Frans is a Member of the South African Colliery Manager’s Association (SACMA) and also a Member of the Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI) Advisory Board. In his current role, Frans oversees a number of operational functions for the Coal business. This includes the Integrated Remote Operating Centre (IROC) in Brisbane, which controls a number of mine operating functions for eight of BHP’s Queensland coal sites, and the Hay Point Terminal in Mackay.

Frans holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the Rand Afrikaans University and a Bachelor of Mining Engineering from the University of Pretoria.
