Molecular Microbial Ecology Studies and Environmental Chemistry

In her role as Research Assistant within the Centre for Mined Land Rehabilitation (CMLR), Merinda provides research and technical support for molecular microbial and chemical analyses in soils and metal mine tailings.

Merinda recently undertook her Honours research project at both CMLR and the Advanced Water Management Centre (UQ), investigating the impact of nitrate on microbially-mediated iron mineral transformations in magnetite mine tailings. She graduated from UQ in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science (Hons I) majoring in Microbiology.
