Dr Paul Gow specialises in the utilisation of diverse datasets to better understand the controls on mineral deposit formation and to target discovery and delineation of new mineral resources.

Paul has over 20 years’ experience working in mineral exploration and development. He completed a PhD at Monash University investigating iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG)-style deposits on the Stuart Shelf, a deeply covered Proterozoic terrane hosting Olympic Dam and other major mineral deposits. He utilised regional geophysical datasets and detailed analysis of available drill core to add to early understanding of the genesis and controls on IOCG deposits and to provide a solid regional geological framework for future mineral exploration work on the Stuart Shelf.

Following several years with greenfield gold and copper exploration programs on the Gawler Craton in South Australia, Paul returned to a Post-Doctoral research position at CSIRO investigating and modelling regional scale structural controls on mineralisation, with a focus on the porphyry copper deposits of Chile and New Guinea.

He then held roles in copper-dominated mineral exploration and development, including District Geologist, Exploration Manager and General Manager for projects in Australia, Brazil and Papua New Guinea. His stewardship saw resource discovery and/or completion of project studies from Scoping to Feasibility level on IOCG and porphyry copper mineral deposits. Most recently he established a private copper exploration and development company in Chile’s Coastal IOCG Belt.

He is a practising member of the AusIMM, the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, and the Geological Society of Australia.

Industry

Paul has extensive mining industry experience within government, consultancy, and mining companies (junior to major), spanning both greenfield and brownfield exploration, resource definition, and project studies to Feasibility level.
