Tyson Cronin has commenced as the Sustainable Minerals Institute's (SMI) Health, Safety, Wellness and Facilities Manager, which will see him interact with people, equipment and procedures across Indooroopilly and St Lucia.

Tyson comes to SMI with more than 14 years of industry experience, having worked in laboratories and mineral processing plants with Newcrest Mining Limited, MMG and most recently JKTech.

At JKTech, Tyson led the Laboratory Team and JK Drop Weight Training as Laboratory Supervisor and Products Installation Manager, delivering training to clients around the world in places such as Mongolia, Russia, Brazil, Ghana and Peru.

In addition to this, Tyson is familiar with the Indooroopilly site and close to the team working there, owing to his role as JKTech’s Safety Officer. Tyson also managed JKTech’s successful 2018 UQ OHS audit, developed and delivered the JKDWT Refresher Training Program globally in 2019 and has an academic background in business and economics.
