Building Capacities in Mining Sector Governance in Niger

SMI through the Minerals and Energy for Development Alliance  (MEfDA) partnership with  University of Western Australia (UWA) has been commissioned byDepartment of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to support mining sector governance in Niger from 2017 to 2018.

From 2 to 4 May 2017, a workshop was held in Niamey. The workshop brought together stakeholders from the government, the private sector and civil society to discuss the program’s study on the “Attractiveness of Niger to new mining investment”. There was excellent participation and very positive feedback from the 60 participants.

On-going work under this program will include follow-up working groups from the workshop and further training and capacity building activities.
