Professor Rodrigo Peroni is visiting UQ/BRC

Professor Rodrigo Peroni is visiting UQ/BRC from 3rd March 14 to  03rd April 14.  Rodrigo is supported by a UQ Travel Award.

Rodrigo has a Dr. Eng. in Resource Assessment and Mine Planning, and was Chief Mine Planning Engineer from 2003 to 2006 at Rio Paracatu Mineração gold mine (a large open pit mine, initially part of Rio Tinto Group and then sold to the Kinross Gold Corp.).  Since 2006, Rodrigo has been an Adjunct Professor at the Mining Engineering Department of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.  His expertise and research areas are open pit mine planning and design, resources/reserves assessment, computer-aided methods and mining software, and virtual reality applied to mining.

Rodrigo will give an SMI seminar on “Mine planning, an essential tool for the mining business” at 10am on 13MAR14.
