CSRM’s Research Manager Rodger Barnes has received the prestigious Lifetime Supporter Award from AEMEE (Aboriginal Enterprises in Mining, Energy and Exploration Ltd) - the peak body representing Indigenous businesses supplying the energy and mining sector.
Presenting the award AEMEE Chair, Derek Flucker, acknowledged Rodger’s contribution over many years and his more recent research on Indigenous procurement and the development of the AEMEE Procurement Tool.
“Rodger, your dedication, leadership and commitment to advancing Indigenous businesses have been inspiring,” he said.
“We are grateful for your contributions, and it is an honour to see you recognised in front of peers, industry leaders, and the AEMEE community.”
Rodger said he was deeply honoured and acknowledged the impressive network of Indigenous businesses that AEMEE has sustained over the last 19 years.
“I remember the launch of AEMEE in Alice Springs in 2005, a time when only a handful of mainly civils and earthmoving Aboriginal businesses were operating,” he said.
“Considering the talent on show at this latest conference and the emerging generation of diverse Aboriginal businesses now supplying the mining industry, the future looks bright.
“These are exciting times for AEMEE too, with the recent appointment of the inaugural AEMEE CEO, Jyi Lawton.
“I hope to continue to contribute to AEMEE’s ‘vision of gaining true market share for Indigenous businesses within the resources sector,” Rodger said.
