Navigating System Complexity in Resources Operations – SiMine simulation course

Cost: AUD $1,400 (excluding GST), Student rate - AUD$400 (excluding GST)
Delivery: Online instructor-led, with interactive group based experiential value chain simulations.
Duration: 8 hours, over 2 days - 2pm - 6pm (AEST)
Facilitators: Antony Mello and Gary Lane (SiMINE), supported by SMI minerals industry experts

Overview: This experiential workshop is designed for those wishing to expand their skills and capabilities in managing a complex and dynamic business system to maximise performance. The workshop is designed specifically for a mining and minerals industry context, and are appropriate for attendees from technical and non-technical disciplines alike.

Learning will be partly via the innovative SiMINE integrated mining value chain digital simulation, which allows participants to build their Systems Thinking capacity in a resource industry business context.

At the conclusion of this course you will understand how to perform an integrated value chain flow and constraints analysis using a System Dynamics approach. You will appreciate how to assess flow-on effects of localised tactical changes, and how to avoid potentially undesirable impacts when introducing changes to parts of your mine value chain.

Target audience:  This course is designed for those wishing to expand their skills and capabilities in understanding and managing a complex and dynamic business system to maximise performance. The workshop is appropriate for technical and non-technical people, and has been proven as practically applicable across a broad range of roles including plant superintendents, minerals industry consultants to mine general managers and mining executives.

SiMINE is an interactive, experiential mining and processing simulation that creates a “true to life” experience of the financial, physical and interpersonal dynamics in managing a mining value chain. The simulation has been designed to mimic raw materials extraction, transport, material processing, inventory management, product assembly, order fulfilment, distribution to customers and supporting functions.
