Often, the most basic knowledge required for resource exploration is the age of rocks in a given area, regardless of whether the resource is mineral, petroleum or geothermal. This webinar will discuss how Queensland rocks are related and what geological events they may have been a part of.

Panel Speakers:

  • Dr Hugo Olierook, Research Fellow, Curtin University – Geochronology for the minerals industry
  • Dr Elena Belousova, Principal Geoscientist, Geological Survey of Queensland – Expanding GSQ horizons in geochronology
  • Dr Ahmad Reda Researcher / Assistant Professor, University of Adelaide / King Abdulaziz University – In-situ Rb-Sr dating of a Cu-Au mineralsation by LA-ICP-MS/MS
  • Dr Aileen Doran Postdoctoral Researcher, iCRAG (SFI Research Centre in Applied Geosciences), University College Dublin – Using carbonate geochemistry to decipher ore forming processes: an example from the Irish Zn-Pb orefield

Facilitated by Dr Renjie Zhou, Senior Lecturer, School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, The University of Queensland.
