Speaker: Dr Willem de Beer

Abstract: This seminar will explore the key messages: (1) the importance of data quality and (2) that passive seismic data are more than colourful balls on a screen – the results of analysing such data have significant safety and financial impact in the practical applications of mine seismic data analysis.

Bio: Willem has been involved with seismic monitoring and data analysis in mines since 1997. He has worked on most continents, mainly in underground metalliferous mines. He has variously been a project manager, co-owner of a consultancy in New Zealand, and a principal in Golder Associates in New Zealand and Canada. He joined ESG in 2016.
