What are mineral rights and authorities and how do they differ around the globe?
Speaker: Mr Bill Haylock
Abstract: Whatever type of work you do in the resource sectors, whether it be mineral or coal exploration, actual mining or oil & gas exploration and production, it will be done on some form of mineral right. No work occurs unless there is a mineral right. What are they, how are they acquired, who issues them, what do they allow you to do, and how are the protected? In brief, mineral rights are your “Social Licence to Operate”, and as such they must be managed with care.
Bio: With over 45 years’ experience in the resource and environment sectors, Bill Haylock is the Chairman and Managing Director of PX4 Software, a Director of the Ardent Group (claims & tenement consultancy) and Torch Energy (uranium exploration). He is a former President of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ – the professional association for environmental practitioners) and a former CEnvP Board Member (the certification board for environmental practitioners), an Honorary Fellow of the AusIMM (the resource industries leading professional body) and Chair of the AusIMM Interim “Tenement (Claims) Management Society”.
