Dr Tom Evans obtained a BSc (Hons 1st class) from the University of Adelaide in 1999 and a PhD in structural and metamorphic geology from James Cook University in 2004.
Tom has subsequently worked as an exploration geologist throughout Queensland, and internationally in New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Türkiye, and Mongolia. He has extensive experience in mapping and modelling copper, gold, and base-metal mineral systems and a long-standing interest in geometallurgy.
Currently, Tom is a Senior Research Fellow with the Total Deposit Knowledge group at the WH Bryan Mining Geology Research Centre, working on the Northeast Queensland Mineral Deposits Atlas. He is also co-convenor of the Sustainable Minerals Institute weekly JKMRC Friday seminar program.
