Johanna Linus is a PhD candidate in the Global Centre for Mineral Security at the Sustainable Minerals Insitute at The University of Queensland and is also a geologist with over fourteen years of experience in the sustainable development of mineral resources.

Since 2015, she has been working in the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Namibia where she held several positions. She is currently a Chief Geoscientist in the Department of Mines, mainly focusing on the review of Mineral legislations and on the formalization of artisanal and small-scale mining sector. Before that, she worked as a Senior Geoscientist in the same department where she helped to provide technical services to small scale miners. From 2015 to 2017, Johanna worked as a Senior Geoscientist in the Geological Survey of Namibia where she assisted with geological mapping that aims at enhancing the knowledge of Namibian geological resources. Before joining the Ministry, she worked as a Junior Exploration Geologist for base and precious metals in Namibia.

Johanna holds an LLM in International Mineral Law and Policy from the University of Dundee, a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Geology, from the University of Namibia. In addition, Johanna has completed professional trainings in Local Economic and Social Development in Extractives (LESDE) at The University of Queensland, and in Transnational Governance through the Young African Leaders Programme (YALP) at the European University Institute.
