In September 2017, the NSW Government released a Guideline to improve the assessment and management of social impacts of mining, petroleum and extractive projects that are classified as State Significant Development (i.e. major resources projects. CSRM provided professional advice to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment on leading practice, to inform the development of this guidance. Besides initial input, CSRM’s role included a review of the quality, relevance, and practicality of the draft Social Impact Assessment Guideline prior to cabinet scrutiny and adoption.
