Transitions in Mining

The Transitions in Mining program initially commenced in 2018 as 'Transforming the Mine Lifecycle'.

It drives multidisciplinary and integrated research to inform the adaptation of the industry as it responds to external change and global drivers, in particular:

  • A maturing industry – bringing mine closure and regional diversification into focus;
  • Climate change – driving the need for mitigation, adaptation and the development of minerals critical to energy transitions
  • Rising societal expectations and responsible investment – bringing environment, social and governance issues into the heart of business and driving attention towards circular economy thinking and the delivery of wealth from waste.
