Professor Mark Noppé appointed as JKTech CEO

Professor Mark Noppé has been appointed to the role of CEO by the board of JKTech, the technology-transfer company of the Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI), from 1 February 2025.

Professor Noppé brings extensive experience to the role – he is the current Director of SMI’s WH Bryan Mining Geology Research Centre (BRC) and previously held the roles of group chair of SRK Consulting's global board, Managing Director of SRK Consulting (Australasia) as well as the founding Managing Director of Xstract Mining Consultants. He also sits on the AusIMM Board of Directors.

“I am honoured to have been invited to take on the role and I’m excited to work with our teams and partners across JKTech Pty Ltd and SMI-ICE-Chile SpA,” Professor Noppé said.

In his consulting work, Professor Noppé has engaged with a vast range of stakeholders including the management and boards of mining companies big and small, as well as the investors, lenders and legal advisors on various mining projects.

SMI Director and outgoing JKTech CEO Professor Rick Valenta said Professor Noppé brings unique skills that will help guide JKTech into the future.

“Mark is a respected figure in the global mining industry with an impressive track record of success in the areas for which JKTech is known,” Profesor Valenta said.

Professor Noppé brings a deep experience in project, mine and technical reviews, due diligence and process improvement studies, as well as training and mentoring in all aspects of orebody knowledge.

“Mark has a strong track record of successful consulting and service provision and an enviable global reputation in the industry,” JKTech Pty Ltd, Chairman Rob Hubbard said.

Professor Noppé takes up the role as a full-time secondment from the BRC and Associate Professor Anita Parbhakar-Fox will assume the role of acting BRC director from 1 February 2025.
